READING TOOLBOX

Before designing reading instructional activities, we need an understanding of the actual process of proficient reading. Scientific advances and research have provided a wealth of information that helps us better understand both how students learn to read proficiently and why some students fail to learn to read. The evidence-based research shows how the use of different tools can help in the process of teaching reading and provides us with a much more accurate ‘map’ to reading success. Here you will find a number of activities, materials or handouts that somehow can shed light on what we are trying to accomplish in our reading lessons. Be aware of the fact that more tools will appear in this page as they become available.
